Week 5 - Math Challenge

This week of the blogging challenge is mostly to do with math.  I decided to talk about some of my experiences with math in school.
I've been home schooled all my life, besides 5th grade, so for the main part I've either had my Mom as a teacher or an online teacher.  When I went to school in 5th grade I did well in math and actually did some of the 6th grade extra credit when I had nothing else to do.  But now that I'm in high school, math can be tricky.  For the most part I'm good at math, even Algebra, however the math in Chemistry has kind of tripped me up in the past.  I was also pretty good at Geometry and Trig too.
Math isn't my favorite subject, I prefer English and science, but one of my favorite math memories is when I completed a book called "Pet Store Math".  It was basically a workbook in which I had my own pet store business and had to write checks, buy supplies, and figure out my profit/loss for each month.  I did this book sometime in middle school and I loved it.  I finished it very quickly because I had a lot of fun doing it.
I think the most important thing to know about math is that it can be challenging, but you just have to make it fun.  You will have to use it in whatever career you have when your older, so it is also important in that aspect, but the most important advice I can give is to just keep learning math and keep your mind open to it, even if it isn't your favorite subject, because sometimes it can actually be fun!
