Dominican Republic Spring Break: Day 3

Sunday 3/6/16 - heading to our new home

Sunday morning and our first full day in the Dominican Republic.  I took a shower when I woke up at the retreat center.  It didn't even phase me that this would be my last shower for a week, as I was focused on the exciting week before me.  After showering, I joined the rest of the group for breakfast and then we all headed to mass.  It was an interesting experience to attend a mass all in Spanish.  I was surprised that the church was air conditioned as no where else I had been was.

After mass, we headed back to the retreat center, packed up our things, threw our bags into the trucks, and drove off to our new home for the week.  Arriving at our new home in palo sacco was such a incredible moment.  When we arrived, we were all surprised at how spacious and homey our new home felt.  We were welcomed with delicious Dominican food.  After we ate, Tim and I led our first night of reflection.  Our first night ended in possibly the best way, a beautiful dance party in the rain.
